Guna Yala - The Land and People of Baba and Nana Dummad

The Guna Comarca, a fantastic archipelago along North-Eastern coastline of the Isthmus is known as Guna Yala. Existing as an autonomous territory since 1925, the Guna are a fiercely proud people, protecting their culture and territory, trying to find the right balance between their traditional ways and modern conventions.

Only Gunas can own land or a business within their comarca, this means that large-scale developments and modern staples are practically non-existent. Lodges located on islands of white sand and surrounded by turquoise waters are comfortable but basic.

Guna history, culture and way of life is an experience not to be missed if you are looking for an authentic proud Native American culture.
